How Microsoft Bing Boosts Loyalty

Neil Yaekle · August 10, 2015

Once or twice a month, we like to highlight one of the campaigns we’re running so that brands who are considering a Quikly can see how it works in real time. What better way to see how it all goes down than to play along with a live campaign?

Microsoft Bing has made a lot of updates and changes to its popular app, Bing Rewards. And they want people to know about it, download the app, and use it.

Using the app, Bing users can earn credits when they search on Bing, try new features from Bing, or use other Microsoft products and services. The credits can be redeemed for a variety of gift cards and other rewards.

One way Quikly works with brands is to boost activation in their loyalty program. Running a Quikly campaign is a great way to:

  • attract new members to your loyalty program

  • re-activate lapsed members

  • surprise and delight core fans

Bing is using the Quikly in all three ways. Many of our clients run their Quikly through a microsite—anyone can access it, and that’s part of the point. Bing is limiting the Quikly to people who have downloaded the Bing Rewards app, thereby accomplishing all three key loyalty goals.

Here’s how it works if you want to play along and see if a similar application of the Quikly mechanic would work for your loyalty program:

  1. Go to the app store and download the Bing Rewards app. If you already have the app, open it on your phone.

  2. Look for the “Credit Giveaway” link located in the “Earn Credit” section of the app.

  3. Follow the instructions to opt in.

  4. Some point soon, the Quikly will go live. When it does, participants will be sent a secret link.

  5. Click the link as soon as you receive it because the faster you respond, the better your reward. The first 20,000 app users who respond will score rewards ranging from 25,000 Bing Rewards credits for the fastest responder all the way down to 25 credits. Participants can even earn a competitive edge by sharing the promotion with friends and family.

Check it out and let us know if you’re interested in using a Quikly to expand membership and participation in your loyalty program.

Building Loyalty Through Native Apps

More and more brands are building native apps as one prong in a multi-pronged loyalty strategy, sometimes instead of a browser-based app, sometimes in addition to one. After all, customers prefer apps to browsers, and native apps produce higher user adoption, usage volume and user engagement .
